Week 49 - Philly

Hello all.  Philip and I have been home for a few hours from a quick Labor Day Weekend trip to Philadelphia PA to visit some good friends from England.  He's an ortho surgeon and is currently doing a crazy high-speed spine fellowship in Philly right now, so we decided this weekend would be a great time to head up to see them.  We also had the chance to visit a childhood MK friend of Philip's and his wife of two months for lunch today.  The boys had a great time reminiscing about Mexico days.  We opted to come back today because I need to spend all of tomorrow writing a paper for work and working on assessment report writing.  I used all of the driving time to be doing school reading (okay I was so exhaused on the drive up I slept for the last hour of the trip).  However, it was nice to have 24 hours were I wasn't doing anything school/work related.

Katie was very excited to have Philip read bedtime stories last night.

In other news. . . it's official.  As of July 28, 2012 I AM GOING TO HAVE A SISTER.  My brother popped the question to his beautiful girlfriend last night after a private ballroom dancing lesson (seriously how amazing is that?!?)  Sierra is such an answer to prayer for our family.  She is everything I always hoped that my brother could have in a wife:  she loves the Lord, she is very bubbly and outgoing which is a perfect complement to my brother's calm, thoughtful temperment, she makes him laugh, she is so thoughtful and compassionate, she is going to be an incredible mom, and oh yeah, she's BEAUTIFUL.  She's also an unbelievably gifted vocalist, so I'm pretty sure that between she and my brother - I'm going to have some very musically inclined nieces and nephews (with some wicked dancing skills I'm sure. . .).  I know I know they just got engaged but it's not like these things didn't enter my mind long ago - it's just that now it's appropriate to actually say them now. . .  They're both in their senior year at Dordt College in IA.  They are hoping to make Colorado home, so if you have any connections for engineering jobs and/or student teaching positions (she's a music ed major) in COS, Denver, Boulder or Ft. C (or anywhere inbetween) let me know and I'll pass them along :)
