In the midst of grading midterms for the class I'm TAing for this semester (Psychodynamic Psychopathology - the abnormal psyc course in the sequence of the GW PsyD program). The exam is in-class, hand written. Sigh. I think that closed-book, in class exams are very valuable for learning. (I say that not having to take many more of them in my lifetime *fingers crossed*) It's the kind of torture I'd like to impose if I teach some day. But oh.my.goodness.
reading trying to decipher this handwriting is no fun at all. I'm curious if I'll ever teach someday. It's never been a goal or objective of my professional career (save 2nd-5th grade when I aspired to grow up and be the next Ms. Anne Broderius), but it's a gig I think I could do. I guest lectured for class the other day during the ED unit and it went really well.
Other miscellaneous musings. . . enjoyed a marvelous 22 hours with my husband this weekend. He came down from NJ w some of the other guys from training Sat. after they finished for the evening. We slept in, had home church (listening to a Dave Smith podcast sermon from NW Community Church in San Antonio [he was the pastor who married us-NW is Lere's pre-Mexico "home" church]) while snuggled under a comforter in our pjs (BLISS!), grabbed some comida at Chipotle, and I worked on internship stuff at Starbucks while Philip read. The weekend included my first lesson in Pashtu. Exciting times people, exciting times! Yesterday Philip started hand-to-hand combat training (the kind of training you never want to have to use. ever. if you ever have to bust out the ninja street fighting moves you know a lot of things have gone very VERY wrong.) Philip reported having pretty swollen hands yesterday and commented "yeah, I learned that I want to bring a gun to all of my fights." My left-wing liberal classmates so would not approve of that message.
Okay, back to draining the ink out of this red pen. . . I show no mercy. You're not surprised are you?

Good thing you had some Diet Dr. Pepper at your side to comfort you whilst (do you like that British touch?) you were deciphering answers to the Psycho Psycho test. Was the grammar as bad as the papers of NWC freshmen that you checked during your tenure there? All I can say about handwriting is that mine is Terrible (with a capital "T") now that most of my "writing" is done at a keyboard.
