faith

my mom.  for real guys, those of you who know her know what I'm talking about:  this woman is amazing.  (I know it's Father's Day weekend but really in my world every day is Celebrate My Parents Day.  I did nothing to deserve to have people of these caliber in my life - sacrificing deeply, investing in me fully --- every day I lived under their roof for 18 years and every day since.)

This is something my mom sent me this week that I needed to hear.  So I thought that perhaps there is someone reading my ramblings that could benefit from these reminders as well:

Faith is trusting in advance what will only make sense in reverse.  - Philip Yancey

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.   Hebrews 11:1

I was confronted last night with a question I have revisited over and over the last decade of my life:  Do I really believe that what I believe is really real?

It is.  And I don't have to understand.  But it's seriously really really freaking hard to rest in that some days.  Lately, lots of days.  But I just keep putting one foot in front of the other.
