twinkle toes

THURSDAY:  Dr. Matt took the stitches out.  Jana found a suture removal kit in some of his gear and the mission was accomplished.  His comment was, "it's easier to do this with the suture kit than with a pocket knife."  Easier for both parties, I'm sure.

FRIDAY:  Jana & I got manicures.

I'm going to have a kind of wicked scar, so I'm afraid my days of foot modeling are over.  Dang, I should have gotten insurance or something. . .

School was good this week.  Right now I have a huge pile of papers and articles sitting at my feet that I need to sort out and organize.  The only not-so-exciting school event was on Thursday.  I went on to campus for 10, only to realize that I actually didn't have class until 2:00.  On Wednesday I had dragged a ton of books with me and didn't get through much reading.  So, naturally on Thursday I only brought the two books for my Thursday class (which I didn't have a syllabus for yet) so I couldn't even get much accomplished during my block of free time.  I gymed, and I spent a bunch of time in the medical school library.  PsyD canidates have special permission to go in (it's kind of like having your name on a special list to get into a club. . . at least that's how it looks in the movies).  I laughed to myself and thought "they must controll access to this library to keep girls from trolling for doctors."  Hey, if I were single that would probably have been my plan. . . ha ha ha.

It was painful to know that I  missed four good hours of sleep, but I figured that it was better to be four hours early for class rather than four hours late.  Four hours early you just feel silly and are a bit frustrated at yourself.  When it is all said and done you can go home and relax and share your bemusing story as-thankfully- it is history.  Four hours late and you feel stupid/foolish and then feel sick about it for the rest of your day.

It's been VERY hot in DC.  I'm loving it.  95 and sunny.  This morning Jana and I went running.  It was actually not real humid or suffocating this morning, so it was a nice start to a Saturday.

Now it is time for a nice end to my Saturday. . .  Studying the rest of the night.

Dear Twinkle Toes,
Yay for Dr. Allen. He can add that to his next resume.
Good thing you keep a blog - because that way experiences like arriving at school 4 hours early aren't totally wasted - they become blog post material.
Maybe Jana will get you talked into a routine of early morning jogs......
We thought about you this a.m. as we were listening to the radio and heard the report of the worst and best cities in the U.S. for driving. Worst: Washington, D.C. Best: a city in Colorado (Fort Collins - can't remember for sure) Please stay out of the statistics column.
Hoping your toe/foot is feeling okay.
Sending love from Minnesota.

The only way I will run is if there is someone there forcing me to do it. Jana is actually thinking about us running together when she starts her new job at 5:30 (today our "morning" run was shortly after I was up for the day around noon). We'll see how that pans out. She and Matt are probably going to run a 10 mi. race in Nov, but I don't think I'll be joining them based on how not fun running off and on (more off than on at the end) for 45 minutes today felt. Blegh.

Yeah, DC not fun place for driving. I'll be careful. Fort Collins - where Philip would maybe like to retire --- at least when I'm old I won't be driving with a bunch of crazies like I am now.
