amigos

We have enjoyed a marvelous five days with Mr. & Dr. Matt and Annie Bartholomew.  Philip and Matt were bffs in Colo Springs during high school.  They were track buddies.  Matt's dad is a retired Col. in the USAF and has definitely played a significant force in Philip's career path (he actually was the officer who read Philip's his oath at comissioning - very special).  We have taken in the sights and scenes of D.C., but most of all we have have enjoyed the wonderful company that we have shared.  There has been LOTS of laughter.  And a deep sense of gratefulness for "forever friends" --- you know the people who you can always pick up easily with no matter how much time passes.  You have shared values.  You see the world similiarly.  You have no shortage of inside jokes. . .  it's been one of those kinds of weeks.  Matt, an architecht in San Antonio, was in our wedding but this was the first time we've spent much "real" time together.  It was my first time meeting his wife Annie (a Texas native who is currently working as a physical therapist), but it was clear from our first evening together she and I are cut from the same cloth.  We've enjoyed talking about work, family, church, our crazy husbands, and our shared love for sleep :)

So grateful for these two - and so many couples like them in our lives - we are truly blessed.
