best of both worlds

So far, my week has felt pretty productive (one of my favorite feelings really). I've had the discipline to do my studying when I get home before dinner/veg time w/ my sappy medical drama tv shows. As difficult as my current class is, I've really enjoyed this week as we're looking at an assessment of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (really good assessment used widely in the mental health world developed at the U of M (maybe part of why I like it so much is that it's a little piece of "home). One of my assignments this week was to look at some research on the use of the assessment. I selected an article "MMPI-2 in the Inpatient Assessment of Women with Eating Disorders" --- it was extra interesting to me because the research was carried out at Remuda Ranch Treatment Center in Wickenburg, AZ which is where I dream of working some day.

I just made some nice tofu & broccoli stir fry served w/ some whole grain couscous. Mmm... I usually have a hard time getting the stir fry sauce right, but tonight it actually turned out fairly decent. I've really become a cous cous fan since discovering the whole grain version during my time at the clinic.

Yesterday I had a meeting with several mangers and we FINALLY made a plan for my whereabouts/position at work beginning in August. It was decided that I would spend 3 days at Chesham (the second stage of treatment) and 2 at Baskerville (inpatient). I am hopeful that this will provide the best of both worlds as I'll still have time with Sarah in inpatient group, but I have an opportunity to be part of the leadership of rebuilding Chesham during the current time of management transition and staff retraining in addition to being able to autonomously working with patients individually and in the group setting at this more advanced stage of recovery. It feels good to finally know where I'm going to be. I'm praying that things work out beautifully with integrating my work in the next six months into my practicum requirements for my Master's.

Joy, As I read your blog I was thinking about how much you have learned this past year on-the-job and in your studies, from your professors, co-workers, and classmates. Wow! What a wonderful opportunity God worked out for you - in a place and time where you could learn and serve at the same time.
