Independence Day IN England. . . a bit ironic to me. . .

We had an awesome 4th today. I spent the morning with my friend Suzie in Bury St. Edmunds - a village/town about 30 minutes away. We got Starbucks (I have been desperately needing a coffee frappucinnio light for many weeks now but there is no Starbucks closer than 30 minutes away) and tooled around town. It was market day, so I got some fresh strawberries and raspberries. We ducked in and out of some super cool shops and had wonderful conversation (it always is with her). On the way there we had an excellent mental health discussion as she shared with me the latest from her coursework at Cambridge for a workshop she is taking on death and bereavement. We talked some ethical eating disorder issues that they had discussed in class, and she was curious about my take on them. I love my Suzie.

This afternoon we went to RAF Feltwell where the local bases have a 4th of July celebration. It was a bit like a military version of the county fair without the animals. Lots of squadrons had food booths set up and there was a carnival with rides. We spent the afternoon with our friends, the Bodes. They have four little girls (a fifth baby on the way), so it was a lot of fun having some family time with them. I did laugh though. Ken is an orthopedic surgeon, so you could could tell all day he had this sense of "I really hope that no one busts a bone here or I'm going to be in the OR all night tonight." :)
