Dissipating Chaos

I am very pleased to report that the chaos in my life is finally started to dissipate. Propped up by LOTS of prayer, I completed the methodology (killer) section of my research proposal this weekend. 5 more days until I hand in the final pieces and am done with this class.

We had a very cold, rainy weekend. As promised. Here is some info on events that went on in the last 8 days our our lives:

1. Wonderful Saturday night attending a lecture at the University of Cambridge on gender stereotyping & excellent time w/ our friends the Walkers - It was an "England Experience" that I will look back on fondly. It was fun to do something sophisticated and intellectual (you can't help but be inspired in Cambridge, SERIOUSLY!)

2. My comprehensive exams are OVER (hopefully for good) - I'll find out the verdict in a couple of weeks. The scenario I got kind of sucked. I had to spend 3 hours providing a diagnosis and comprehensive treatment plan, which is all fine and good except that the task I was given was a scenario as a school counselor (not the area I'm studying anyway) and I had minimal information about the child who attended school as the case focused on the mother. Obviously school counselors can't treat every messed up family that walks through the doors, so I'm hoping that I adequately covered my butt by writing about both the student and the mother and stating that ethically I may be very limited in work that could actually be done with the mother. . .

3. Eating at an Italian restaurant that served my favorite "Boulderado" olives - Following the lecture at Cambridge, the four of us ate at a great Italian restaurant in the city. I was VERY excited because they served a kind of Italian olive that I haven't been able to find since I worked at the Boulderado (okay, I DID find a small jar in a duty-free shop in an Airport for $24 but as I didn't/couldn't buy them it doesn't really count). As my leaving present from the hotel, the head chef gave me an entire bucket of the olives because he knew I loved them so much.

4. Philip standing in as the Commander for a (crazed) week (guess that makes me the Squadron Commander's Wife this week :) - Philip's squadron commander was at a conference this week so he was the only officer in the squadron. We received phone calls at all crazy hours of the night all week. I'm so proud of how hard he works and the experience he is gaining in the squadron as he is doing work of people who are several years his senior.

5. Moving (on the 23rd of November!) - It's official. We are moving into base housing on the 23rd of November. No more horrible Beatrice Carter Property Management.

6. Bringing my high school cheerleading uniform out of retirement - We had a "fancy dress" day at work (the Brits say "fancy dress" instead of "costume" or "dress up"). We all dressed up as crazy things. I took the opportunity to bring the high school cheerleading uniform out. It was quite hilarious. British girls are absolutely enamored with the idea of cheerleading and the excitement of "American High School" goings on such as prom.

Glad to hear that things are a bit less chaotic. Didn't Philip have class this last week too? You'll have to send pictures of the new place. I'm not sad you're getting out of the property management headache but I'll miss knowing where you live. Love you both!

Yes, Philip finished a class today. We will have to take you on a Skype tour of the house and I'll show you my exciting American-sized appliances and "your room" for the next time you get to join us in jolly old England (when will that be by the way - spring, summer, or not until next fall?)
