I have been entertaining guests this weekend and being a good English hostess. I was a teaching and research assistant for a pretty outstanding prof as an undergrad. I still stay in touch with his family. One of his daughters is spending a semester in Italy, so I told her that she was welcome to come visit me. She and one of her friends came over this weekend during their spring break and we did the "England thing".
We had a blast in London yesterday (despite the rain). I picked the girls up at the airport and we took the underground into the city. We spent the afternoon at the ultra-posh Harrods department store (it's about the size of a city block. . .). I have never touched things so expensive in my life. I decided that heaven would be like Harrods on drugs. We had a really nice lunch at a Lebanese restaurant within the store (but surprisingly not priced to match the rest of the crazy store!)
Last night we went to the musical "Oliver!" It was pretty special to see the show (which takes place in London) IN London. We saw it at the Royal Drury Lane Theatre (Drury Lane as in "muffin man. . . who lived on Drury Lane". . . how cool is that?!) Watching the show made me really miss Josh (my little brother) because I know he would have absolutely loved it and I wanted him to be there with me. . .
Today we went to Mildenhall Baptist church and they girls got a British church experience. We then headed into Cambridge.
I made Ericka's day by feeding her good American peanutbutter (what is it about that stuff that makes people go wild?). We just finished some homemade pizza and are getting ready for bed. The girls are VERY amused by the cheesy AFN commercials (I those of you overseas will appreciate that. . .)
They're spending tomorrow in London, so we'll have an early morning: leave house @ 6, drop them at station at 7, drive to work and arrive at 9. Lots of driving. I have a feeling that I'm going to crash tomorrow night. . .

Another interesting London adventure to add to your list. I'm sure the girls enjoyed having you as their personal tour guide/teacher/navigator/cultural authority/local church finder. But maybe even more importantly, "provider of American peanut butter" might be high on the list. Take care as you drive tomorrow.
Which prof was this? If you want to say online... sounds like fun! I wish I could come visit you!
best AFN commercial right now..."Hey Sgt _____, what's wrong? You used to be my #1 supertrooper." What military people call each other 'super trouper?'
Jenny, it was Dr. Smith from the Comm dept.
