I *heart* Sundays

It's hard to beat a Saturday night.  I love getting to the end of a relaxing day and relishing in the fact that I still have ONE MORE left!  However, since Philip has been gone Sunday has definitely become my favorite day.  I don't live for the weekends.  I've always been one to love work, however work has been taxing and draining enough the last weeks that my weekends have been much needed.

For me an ideal Sunday is:
1.  going to church (the protestant chapel service on base OR to the baptist church in town with the Gidlows).  It's refreshing and wonderful to worship and exciting to see my church family.

2.  gym (if I'm feeling motivated enough. . . 50% of the time I might be. . .it's right across from the chapel, so that aspect is convenient but it also means dragging extra clothes/shoes on base)

3.  lunch

4.  homework (only for a few more weeks though!!!!!)  I usually struggle to fully unwind unless I have been somewhat productive.

5. sleep.  i. love. sleep.  I had to laugh today.  I was at a diversity training thing at work today and I was doing an exercise with one of my friends.  This dear co-worker knows me WELL because when she was trying to list my hobbies she circled "other" and said "sleep". . . YES!!!  And when I nap, I don't nap for 20 minutes.  No.  I nap for two hours.  Sunday is the perfect opportunity for this.

6. Sunday night @ Gidlows.

#6 has become my saving grace while Philip has been gone. I look forward to Sunday nights ALL WEEK LONG.   The Gidlows live right across the street.  They are my surrogate family.  When I need noise and people I go over to their bustling house (5 kids ages 2-13) and hang out.  I'm getting REALLY sad because they will be leaving in a few weeks.  The moving truck comes to pack their stuff out one week from today!!!  Depressing. . .   I'm trying not to think about it but the reality is becoming more and more imminent.

This is my Sunday night routine w/ Gidlows:

We have "Sunday night dinner":  popcorn, apples, peanutbutter, cheese, sausage  --- it reminds me a bit of "home" [because we'd often have a popcorn supper on Sunday nights at my parents house when I was growing up] and then we watch Biggest Loser.

Now I have never been one for reality TV.  Ever.  At all.  But I LOVE this show.  I love cuddling in with the Gidlow kids and being entertained by the "drama" of the series.  It's wonderful to laugh and make predictions with the whole family  at what is happening on the screen while we sit and eat :)   I was quite upset a couple of weeks ago when I was at the gym and there was a magazine laying on a table that had the winner plastered across the front (we get delayed TV over here so everything that we see is old news).  Boo.  So, I know who wins but it's the watching together that I love the most.   SADLY, Gidlows will be gone before the series ends.  Until then, I plan on savoring my last Sunday nights with this incredible family of seven.

* last night I highlighted Emily's (13) hair.  I had to laugh.  Tammi asked me to help, and of course I was more than happy to.  Well, turns out that when you ask a type-a perfectionist to "help" she conveniently just takes care of the job herself ;) hahaha *

Dear Gidlow Family,
Thank you SO much for welcoming my daughter into your lives and loving on her, especially during the time Philip is away. She, and we, are so thankful for the wonderful friends she and Philip are privileged to have. Blessings to you as you move on and do the same thing over again. Signed, Joy's mom in Minnesota
