It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. . .

We are so grateful to be nestled safe, sound and warm in my parent's house. There is some HORRIBLE weather coming to the midwest starting this evening. We're supposed to have upwards of 20 inches of snow by Friday!!! I'm so thankful that Philip & I are trying to fly right now! I'm ready to settle in for a couple of days of Christmas movies and goodies for a couple of days.I was struck tonight with an incredible picture of Christmas. . . As an adult I've really been able to fully appreciate the way God uses my parents to minister to others. I've learned from my parents that you don't have to offend people, beat them with a Bible, hand out tracts advertising three easy steps of any of that stuff - it's about PRACTICAL LOVE. Case in point - my mom got home from work and put together a huge box of baked goods, meat and Christmas treats to take to a family whose mom is in prison (the plan was to take it tomorrow, but she wanted to make sure it got there tonight incase there is a storm tomorrow). The boys picked rocks for my mom and dad this year. As I watched her putting together the package, I looked at her and was struck by an incredible picture of Christ. I say this not to toot my mom's horn. Her rewards are waiting for her in heaven. Instead, I wanted to share a beautiful picture of Christ's love this CHRISTmas. . .

Yesterday we had the opportunity to go to Jackson, MN to visit Philip's grandparents. Last night good friends of my parents came over for a VERY fun game night. (I highly reccomend the game "What's yours like?" to ANYONE!!!!)
Today I was a good farm girl and split wood with Philip, Josh and my dad. I had to laugh as I was outside in my Fossil sunglasses, four layers of farm clothes and my mom's workboots (that are 2 sizes too big). Josh and I did some truffle making today - very fun!!! Philip & Josh have been playing lots of computer games in their spare time the last few days. In a few minutes some friends of our family (the Karlsgodts) are coming over to make lefse and visit. Does it get more Scandanavian than that?!?!?
