Junior High Sunday School

The military is a culture has a language that is filled with acronyms. My husband will often speak an entire sentence of acronyms. A person adjusts pretty fast (but then has to remember to translate when talking to friends and family). A very common acronym is "PCS" - it means "permanent change of station." A PCS is referring to when you move to another base for your next assignment. It can be used as a noun (as in the previous sentence) or as a verb (i.e. "we are PCSing in November 2010"). *this information will be useful in paragraph 3*

This morning I helped Jana teach junior high Sunday School. I've always been one of those weirdos who love middle school kids - I think that it is because I was one of those weirdos who loved junior high. Like me, Jana's husband is afar so I knew an extra hand in a room of 25 12-15 year olds would be helpful.

Jana always struggles to get volunteers to pray. After prayer requests, one girl bravely said that she would lead everyone in prayer. One of the requests was for "families PCSing" however, in the prayer she accidentally said "people PMSing." Naturally, it was quite comedic. It pretty much made my day. I'm still laughing about it. However, sadly I don't think this poor girl will be volunteering to pray aloud any time soon.
