Red, White & Blue

Philip has had an extremely busy week at work preparing for a DV (distinguished visitor) today. We had time to go to church (he was donned in his uniform) and then he headed straight to the office to prepare for V. President Biden stopping by this afternoon. Air Force 2 came through after Mr. Biden was in Munich for an economics conference (maybe he learned something that he can pass on to the idiots in congress trying to pass the idiotic spending. . . er. . . I mean stimulus bill that a majority of thinking Americans don't want)

Philip got to meet him. I'll post the picture of the two of them when we have it (we had to wait a week or two for the pic w/ Pres. Bush so I'm guessing it'll be the same case w/ this on). Vice President Biden is from Scranton, which Philip pointed out to him just so happens to be the setting of one of Philip's favorite shows: The Office. So, The Office was their topic of discussion. It turns out that Mr. Biden's son is a HUGE fan of the show as well.

Tonight I'm in the midst of baking cookies to send downrange to Afghanistan for Philip's buddy Anthonelli. Anthonelli is a captain in Philip's squadron who has become like a big brother to Philip. We miss him so much. Anthonelli is an amazing guy. One of his bosses has pegged him as "general material" if he stays in the AF. He's a few months into a 14 month deployment in Afganistan with the Army. I made some oatmeal rasin & some m&m choc. chip cookies that will hopefully be a bit of a morale boost for his unit the day they arrive. * I used red white and blue M&Ms from the White House that Philip got from Bush as a special touch :) *

Philip and Joy,

Greetings from Afghanistan! I just wanted to write and say thanks for the AWESOME care package! It just so happened to arrive at the end of an especially trying day and I can't even begin to put into words how very blessed I was by yours words of encouragement and, of course, those VERY special 'White House M&M Cookies'! I must admit, I thought twice about sharing those delightful morsels of presidential goodness but after much soul searching (and about six or seven cookies later) my better judgement prevailed. :)

Seriously though, thanks for your thoughtfulness, your prayers and, most of all, your love as a brother/sister in Christ. You have both been a tremendous blessing to me. Take care and God Bless!
