1.5 days into the 7 day caretaking challenge. As you may have guessed, things fell into place for Ken & Laurieanne to get away. After a wonderful evening w/ Miriam, I left Norwich at 6:30 yesterday morning to head back to Mildenhall to go to the Bodes. Yesterday's events included: hair curling, mini pizza making, cookie baking, and cookie decorating. The two middle girls are reeeeeally missing mom and dad, so this could be a pretty long week for them.
Today we got up and got ready for church, came back quick had lunch and then went back to base for AWANA. I have 1.5 hours to myself while they are at the chapel this afternoon. I desperately need to prepare my material for the first "Finding Balance w/ Food" group tomorrow night. I also need a nap. Not sure which is going to win. . .
These girls are wonderful. It is so refreshing to be around well-disciplined children. I find myself saying and feeling a lot of the things that I do at work --- people plain and simple need boundaries and consistency.
I'm thinking that my primary calling in life is not to be a mother of a large family. I'm far too selfish for this. I'm all for easing into it one at a time. . .

Hahaha! I hear ya. I used to want 5 or 6 kids. I realized what a selfish BOAR I am when I had Bella. But, when they are your OWN, it really is so completely different... I can kinda imagine having 4... we'll see. :-) Good luck... and get a nap in!
Sweet pictures....fun together in the kitchen...doesn't get much better than that. (Actually, no pun intended when I used the word "sweet" but it could have several meanings here, I guess.) Would "sticky" be another adjective that would be in order? If you don't realize it already, you will soon have a good understanding why mothers of young children are always tired. You already accomplished quite a feat - 4 girls plus yourself to church!!! Way to go, Ma Lere!
