Another week has passed with no [good] assignment news. *Sigh* Maybe next week. . . or the week after. . . or six weeks from now. . .
I just went to see Marmaduke with Kori and the Chin kids (it's her son's 7th bday today and her husband is TDY so I came as adult company). I was impressed - it was quite a sweet family/kid-friendly movie!
I got REALLY excited because I saw the preview for "Ramona and Beezus". My mom and dad did a brilliant job of reading with Josh and I as kids. I have fond memories of crawling into Dad's lap and entering the world of adventure of Beverly Cleary when I brought home "Ramona books" from the libarary at school in elementary. I LOVED Ramona Quimby (or maybe it was more than I loved being with my dad and I could sense that he enjoyed the time together too. . . perhaps he was just glad I was out of the Richard Scarry book stage --- my dad HATES Richard Scarry. And the number of times I made him tell me about "Mr. Frumble's Bad Day" !!!!! I joke that when I bless him with grandchildren I'll coach them to bring him Richard Scarry books. He doesn't think this is so amusing. He'll be really sorry to learn that I just discovered that there is a whole line of Mr. Frumble books as I searched for a Richard Scarry image to use for the blog!)Ahead of me is a free weekend. Ahhhh. . . I need to do a lot of cleaning tomorrow and the remainder of the time can be just kind of relaxing. . . I'm feeling a little uncertain exactly what that is supposed to look like now that I'm faced with full weekend of it. . .

Ahhh, bedtime stories...afternoon stories...anytime stories. I miss those times with a kid on the lap and a book to read. Remember how I didn't think the book called "Angel the Pig" was a very appropriate title? And poor Josh - I don't know how many times I fell asleep reading to him in the afternoon. Pretty soon he would be poking me, saying "Mom, you fell asleep again." Sign me up to read to the grandkids when the time comes. I'll do the Mr. Frumble ones - Dad can choose some others. Keep reading....
